Sierra Stollenwerk,

Army sergeant turned cake artist.

Sierra grew up in San Diego, California surrounded by sunshine, salt water and and Mexican food. On the weekends not taken by a band functions, or soccer game, she baked with her Nana Gloria. In high school she baked her friends cupcakes on their birthdays and was known to have caused a couple baking-storms after break ups.

She graduated high school in 2009, dreaming of becoming a history teacher... hair stylist... no, juvenile probation officer... she was undecided and afraid to commit. So She enlisted in the Army Reserves at 17 years old.

In 2017 she completed her eight-year enlistment as a 92Y small arms armorer/supply sergeant and her studies of Sociology at San Diego State University.

She moved to Chattanooga, TN initially in 2014 for a 'gap year", but returned in 2017 after spending two years working full time at a bakery in San Diego in addition to serving  her enlistment and going to school full time.

The professional baking career started as a counter girl slinging cupcakes day-to-day. She then spent about six months designated to cake fillings; Meringue, custard, compote, buttercream, caramel, the works. Then for another six months she only frosted the cakes. No decorations, only to provide the blank canvas for The Decorators. Although she had her eyes set on decorating cakes, taking this slow learning process taught her how to  stack and straighten cakes with ease. Now three years after moving back to Chattanooga Sierra has established herself in the local wedding industry and is in a constant state of developing her decorating skills to provide one of a kind designs for her customers in addition to teaching cake decorating and baking classes locally and online through The Chattery.

As a firm believer that your cake should taste just as exceptional as it looks, these cakes are made from scratch with quality, local ingredients and some signature flavors even feature some local businesses!

Sierra's Cakewerks was established in December 2018 and is currently a domestic kitchen in Chattanooga Tennessee. Since opening, Sierra's Cakewerks has been added to the Preferred Vendor list of The Tennessee River Place, The Signal, Oakleaf Cottage, The Barn at High Point Farms, The Views at Sunset Ridge, Candlelight Ridge, Howe Farms, and Fox & Fern Botanical Styling, and more!
